📤 How to Export Your WhatsApp Chat

<aside> 📱 Chat Explorer reads the standard WhatsApp .zip export. Here's how to get it:

On iPhone

• 1. Open WhatsApp and go to the chat you want to export
• 2. Tap the contact/group name at the top
• 3. Scroll down and tap Export Chat
• 4. Choose Without Media (fast) or Include Media (full gallery)
• 5. Save to Files or AirDrop to your Mac
• 6. In Chat Explorer, tap Import and select the .zip file

Tips

• Group chats work the same way as individual chats
• Large groups may take a few seconds to parse — this is normal
• 'Without Media' exports still show the message text for media (e.g. '<Media omitted>')
• You can import the same chat again to update it — previous data is replaced
• Multiple chats can be imported and switched between independently
